Privacy policy
Last updated: May 6, 2026
This policy describes how k5 Genie (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use our website and tools. It is written for families and educators. It is not tailored to every country or school district; if you need a data processing agreement (DPA) or district-specific terms, contact us.
Who we are
k5 Genie provides web-based practice tools for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, used with adult supervision. The service may be operated by an individual or a company entity identified on your invoice or “About” page when we publish one.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to information processed through our public web application (pages under our domain), including when you paste text, upload files or images, sign in, or use worksheet-related features.
Information you provide
Content you submit. Text, files, photos, PDFs, and similar inputs are sent to our servers (and, where applicable, to model providers we use) so we can return the product output you requested—for example, structuring a reading page, generating practice, improving writing, or classifying a worksheet photo. Do not upload confidential, regulated, or unlawful material, or anything you are not authorized to share.
Account information. If you create or use an account, we process identifiers such as your email address and account id as provided by the sign-in provider (for example Google). We use this to save your work, secure access, and communicate about the service when needed.
Support messages. If you email us, we keep the correspondence as long as needed to resolve the issue and maintain ordinary business records.
Automatic information
Like most websites, we receive technical data from browsers and devices (for example IP address, approximate location derived from IP, user agent, timestamps, and request paths). We use this to operate the service, prevent abuse, debug, and understand aggregate usage.
AI and service providers
Some features use third-party AI or hosting services to process your submissions. Those providers act on our instructions to deliver the product. We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with vendors who help us run infrastructure, authentication, analytics, or security, subject to confidentiality and security obligations appropriate to the data.
Retention
We keep server logs and account-related records for as long as needed for operations, security, and legal compliance, then delete or anonymize them according to our routine practices. Saved user content may be kept until you delete it or close your account, unless we must retain copies for legal reasons.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
k5 Genie is meant for adults (parents, guardians, teachers) to use with children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children for marketing. If you believe a child has submitted personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it where required.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email us at the address below. We may need to verify your request.
International users
If you access the service from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries where privacy laws may differ.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will adjust the “Last updated” date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice (for example a banner in the app).
